Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides family and individual focused therapy to children and their families, as well as possible group treatment services within a school based setting.

  • Provides counseling/therapy services through the use of best practices and strength-based interventions that focus on the capability building of client’s dedicated adults, parents, etc.
  • Ensures that services provided meet medical necessity requirements and are in adherence with ODMHAS, COA and Beech Acres standards and protocols. Adheres to state social work and counseling licensure board standards and protocols.
  • Completes mental health assessments and intake process with clients and families ensuring best practice standards and compliance.
  • Demonstrates success for children and their families through the enhancement of capabilities for the child and family as well as achievement of treatment outcomes.
  • Completes documentation according to ODMHAS, COA and Beech Acres standards. This includes but not limited to progress notes, treatment plans, Ohio Scales, fee agreements, mental health assessment updating, and discharge paperwork.
  • Builds valuable relationships and provides quality service delivery. Engages school administration and provides training and education around relevant topics.
  • Provides crisis support services for students, as needed.
  • May provide services in an office based, home based, and/or community based setting, as clinically indicated.
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally as a Beyond the Classroom team member to ensure holistic needs of kids and families are met.


This role is school based in nature and may require work outside of standard business hours to support family events, school events, etc. Travel throughout the community and to BAPC campuses is required

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related Human Services area of study + 1-3 years of experience working with kids and families. This experience could come from internship and/or practicum experiences.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social work with 3+ years of experience working with kids and families, may be considered in lieu of Master’s Degree.
  • Must possess and maintain active Ohio LSW or LPC licensure.
  • Previous experience in a school based services setting is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in diagnostic determination and selection of best practices as related to the identified client need, determination of treatment process and interventions to be provided to the child and their family, including: treatment planning, intervention development and discharge planning.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to management daily, weekly, and monthly utilization requirements– schedule time management, caseload management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work collaboratively to support the team’s achievement of shared goals and outcomes
