Medical Assistant Dermatology

We are seeking a frontline clinician responsible for direct patient care under the supervision of the Office Manager and practice providers. This position has blended responsibilities of direct patient clinical care and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Performing patient intake and verifying patient insurance and eligibility
• Scheduling patient appointments
• Scribing accurately and efficiently - transcribing history, performing medication reconciliation, and assisting with sending prescriptions
• Assist with explaining procedures and obtaining informed consent from patients
• Providing education regarding skin conditions and medications
• Preparing and administering local anesthetic
• Assisting with office surgical procedures
• Dressing surgical wounds and removing sutures
• Decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Labeling specimens obtained in practice ensures timely processing of any labs or biopsies
• Assisting with medication refills and requests to appropriate specialty pharmacy
• Assisting with prior authorization process by communicating with appropriate stakeholders
• Restocking exam and procedures rooms
• Performing patient callbacks with biopsy results

Qualifications

• Experience – clinical experience in dermatology is preferred though recent medical education is also acceptable
• Personal characteristics – We are seeking an individual who has a passion for exemplary patient care and upholding the service standards of practice. • Experience with our electronic medical record, EMA by modernizing medicine is preferred
• Willingness to learn new technology and software
