Talent Connections has been retained to lead the search for a Senior People Business Partner with our Virginia Beach-based client. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic HR leader who enjoys partnering closely with business leaders, navigating complex employee relations matters, and helping drive a high-performing, people-focused culture across a distributed workforce.
The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution while supporting organizational growth, leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, and compliance initiatives.
Position Overview
The Senior People Business Partner will collaborate with leaders across the organization to align people strategies with business objectives. This role will serve as a key resource for employee relations, leadership coaching, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and HR compliance.
This position is well suited for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates sound judgment, and can effectively influence leaders at multiple levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders to support organizational objectives and workforce initiatives
- Provide consultative guidance on employee relations, performance management, coaching, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns
- Conduct and manage employee investigations with professionalism, consistency, and discretion
- Support leaders with performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and employee development conversations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Collaborate with HR team members on onboarding, offboarding, employee engagement, and talent initiatives
- Assist with leave administration, accommodations, and related employee support processes
- Support employee communication and education around benefits and HR programs
- Participate in organizational culture, wellness, and engagement initiatives
- Stay informed on HR trends, compliance updates, and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience with strong employee relations and business partnership experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting leaders in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices
- Proven ability to influence leaders and manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Strong business acumen and strategic mindset
- Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday is a plus
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
