Summary:
Using computerized tomography (CT) equipmentand standards, the CT Technologist prepares and performs procedures and tests used toacquireand analyze patient diagnostic data. By interviewing and preparing patients with in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drivesoptimalcare outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Conducts computerized tomography (CT) screening, ensuring both the safe function of equipment and pursuing the best quality imaging from the procedure.
Reads andcomprehendsimaging order, engaging with radiologist when order is unclear, complex orwarrantsdeeper review.
Gathers consent for contrast injection for applicable imaging orders. Establishes intravenous access and applies contrast. Under laboratory supervision,draws blood for kidney function evaluationusing glomerular filtration rate (GFR) analysis on point-of-care-testing hardware.
Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that maywarranta more in-depth examination for safety.
Selectsappropriate scanningprotocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy,pathologyand the capabilities/limitations of both hardware and specific imaging sequences.
Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matterexpertiseand cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calmspatientfor effective imaging.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science
Registration as CT technologist from American RegistryOfRadiologic Technologists
Good understanding of human anatomy - can beestablishedthrough education or experience
Experience reading and interpreting complex radiology orders
Preferred
Experience using point-of-care-testing platforms such as Abbotti-Stat
Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
