For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:
0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position.
Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
This is a 32 hour per week position.
The Medical Assistant/Procedure Scheduler role is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support within a team-based environment while promoting efficient and positive patient experience. This position functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.
In addition to direct patient care duties, this role is heavily involved in coordinating and scheduling procedures, managing provider schedules, communicating with patients regarding appointments and procedure preparation, obtaining necessary documentation and authorizations, and ensuring all pre-procedure requirements are completed in a timely manner.
The Medical Assistant II/Procedure Scheduler serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff to support smooth office operations and continuity of care. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities are essential in this role.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
- License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred or achieved within one year of eligibility. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement) Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
- Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Assistant (without certification) or as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant; or 6 months of experience as a certified Medical Assistant.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.
Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
