Job Title: First Shift Yard Loader

Job Description

The Shift Yard Loader safely transports finished materials from production lines to designated inventory areas in the yard while operating a forklift outdoors for the majority of the shift. This role also supports production operations by cross-training and filling in for team members as needed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move finished materials from production lines to inventory locations in the yard.
• Load and unload materials, ensuring accurate placement and secure stacking in designated storage areas.
• Work outdoors in the yard approximately 90% of the time while handling materials and operating equipment.
• Cross-train in production tasks to provide coverage when production associates are absent.
• Assist in general production activities as needed, including handling materials and supporting machine operations where trained.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating forklifts and working in outdoor and indoor environments.
• Inspect equipment before use and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including managing scrap materials to minimize cramped conditions.
• Communicate effectively with production and yard teams to coordinate material flow and inventory placement.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of forklift operating experience.
• At least 1 year of experience working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform loading and unloading tasks safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to cross-train and work in production areas as needed.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operate equipment responsibly.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily outdoors, with approximately 90% of the time spent working in the yard in all weather conditions. Indoor work takes place in a non-climate-controlled production area that can become cramped when there is a high volume of scrap material. Team members regularly operate forklifts and handle materials in both yard and production settings, and should be prepared for a physically active role in a dynamic industrial environment. Appropriate work attire suitable for outdoor conditions and an industrial setting is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr.
