Job Title: Press Operator
Job Description

The Press Operator sets up and operates rotary tooling and laminating equipment to process materials and parts according to precise customer specifications. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, documenting process parameters, and performing test studies to ensure consistent quality. The Press Operator follows established work instructions, adheres to quality and safety standards, and contributes to a clean, efficient, and well-maintained production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up rotary tooling and laminating tools according to job requirements and customer specifications.
  • Operate production machinery to process materials and parts in line with defined quality and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment, materials, or processes to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.
  • Document changes to existing jobs, including parameters, tooling, and other relevant details, to support consistent future production runs.
  • Perform test studies, including die stain tests, and accurately record parameters, tooling, and all required information.
  • Follow existing work instructions and create new work instructions as needed to ensure clear and repeatable processes.
  • Perform necessary preventive maintenance on equipment as directed to maintain safe and reliable operation.
  • Adhere to ISO9001, ISO14001, and IATF standards and procedures in all production activities.
  • Carry out various other duties as directed by the supervisor to support production and operational goals.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a project team to meet production schedules and quality targets.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean, organized, and free of debris at all times.
  • Use all required machine guards and safety equipment properly and consistently.
  • Perform visual inspections of materials and finished parts to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Use hand tools, tape measures, and other basic equipment to set up, adjust, and verify machine operations.
  • Support general production and inspection activities as needed in a converting shop environment.
Essential Skills
  • Proven ability to operate production machinery in a manufacturing or converting environment.
  • Experience with general labor tasks, including material handling and basic shop duties.
  • Hands-on experience with machine operating or machine operation in a production setting.
  • Ability to work as a die cut operator or in similar converting or press-related roles.
  • Competence in performing product and process inspection to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for setup and inspection tasks.
  • Skill in using basic hand tools for adjustments, setups, and minor maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate setups, documentation, and quality checks.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections to identify defects or nonconforming product.
  • Basic computer skills and math aptitude to enter data, follow digital work instructions, and calculate measurements.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to shoulder height and up to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use required guards and safety equipment correctly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of servo press experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a cleanroom environment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO14001, and IATF quality and environmental standards.
  • Ability to create and update work instructions to support process consistency and training.
  • Experience in a converting shop or similar production environment is an advantage.
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a project team.

Work Environment

This role is based in a converting shop environment with production machinery and related equipment. One building features climate control, providing a comfortable and consistent working temperature. Cleanrooms will be available in the future, and some tasks may eventually take place in controlled environments. The position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, working Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The role involves standing for extended periods, handling materials, and using hand tools and measuring devices, while following established safety practices and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
