American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Nurse Educator role in a PCU/Community Education setting, requiring 2+ years of acute or critical care experience and strong clinical teaching skills.
Details- Night shift position, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Based in an inpatient hospital setting within the Community Education department
- Supports education across core staff, travelers, contract labor, and interdisciplinary team members
- Requires flexibility to cover days, nights, and weekends as needed
- PCU-level specialty focus with exposure to acute and critical care populations
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care, critical care, or procedural nursing experience
- BLS required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
- Strong communication, coaching, and clinical teaching skills
- Ability to work independently while following established education plans
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Responsibilities include delivering assigned clinical education content, providing unit-based rounding, and offering just-in-time coaching to staff
- Validates staff understanding and competency, and documents education completion accurately
- Identifies barriers to education completion and escalates concerns to Clinical Education leadership
- Assists with focused re-education when audit findings or practice observations indicate additional support is needed
- Partners with facility educators and clinical leaders
- Experience in nursing education, clinical teaching, competency validation, preceptor development, skills validation, or staff onboarding is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with high-risk education, regulatory readiness, or quality/safety initiatives is a plus — orientation to these areas will be provided
- Training will be provided for education tracking tools, dashboards, LMS platforms, and competency checklists
- Previous experience at this facility is preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
