About this job
Job Description
At Howmet Aerospace in Barberton, OH, we invest in people, technology, and safety to power rapid, profitable growth. We’re searching for a Reliability Maintenance Specialist to join the Night Crew (7PM–7AM, 12-hour crewing) in our Barberton Aluminum Remelt Foundry — a modern, highly automated, continuous horizontal casting operation that runs 24/7/365.
Your impactPicture this: a conveyor trips at 2:15 AM. You pull the schematic, verify inputs at the PLC, isolate a failed drive component, and coordinate a safe change-out with production. Later, you complete PMs on hydraulic circuits, adjust pressures, and log results in the CMMS — all while modeling BCC Safety Regulations and mentoring peers on safe work practices.
Core responsibilities- Diagnose and repair continuous process equipment: motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, water systems, and other production machinery following diagrams, specifications, and manuals.
- Disassemble and reassemble machines using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools to access and replace defective parts.
- Execute precision maintenance: pumps, motors, chains, sprockets, and cables; repair/replace drives; troubleshoot PLC logic; fabricate/mount guards; and fine-tune hydraulics.
- Perform preventive maintenance across the casting lifecycle and contribute to reliability-improvement projects.
- Uphold personal PPE standards and promote BCC Safety Regulations across the crew.
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- 2+ years of mechanical or electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing
- Proficient reading electrical and hydraulic drawings/schematics
- Combustion systems knowledge
- Strong safety record and judgment
- Demonstrated troubleshooting capability
- Hands-on expertise in mechanical and electrical repair methods
- Experience planning and executing PMs
- 5 years maintaining mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment or foundry
- Full-time Night Crew: 7PM–7AM (12-hour crewing); occasional weekend overtime
- Starting rate: $36.23/hour+ based on experience
- Typical range: $36.23–$43.83/hr, plus $1.00/hr night shift differential
- Performance pay linked to company outcomes
- Advance your career in a promote-from-within culture with global opportunities and continuous capital investment
- Medical, Life, Dental, and Vision plans
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid vacation accrual and 10 paid holidays
- Employee discount programs
- Lifting: occasionally up to 40 lbs
- Standing/Walking/Bending/Twisting: constant (>80% of the workday)
- Temperature extremes and production noise: constant (>80% of the workday) in a non-climate-controlled environment
