Location: Sherman, TX
Work Setting: 100% onsite semiconductor manufacturing and process development environment
Relocation: Relocation assistance available on a case-by-case basis
Compensation: $85,000 – $125,000 base salary
Bonus: Annual bonus target of approximately 12%

Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer – Fab & Polish is a hands-on semiconductor process engineering role focused on developing, optimizing, and scaling advanced fabrication and polishing processes for optical and semiconductor materials. This position will support new process development initiatives from early-stage material processing through high-volume manufacturing within a highly visible and rapidly growing product line.
This engineer will serve as a process owner and technical leader supporting fabrication, wafer polishing, crystal processing, and process troubleshooting activities while working closely with Growth and Metrology teams. The role requires a strong understanding of optical component fabrication, polishing technologies, and semiconductor manufacturing fundamentals combined with a hands-on engineering mindset.

What You’ll Do
- Develop and optimize fabrication and polishing processes for semiconductor and optical materials
- Serve as a process owner supporting process stability, manufacturability, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Troubleshoot fabrication equipment, polishing processes, and production-related process issues
- Support development and scale-up of new manufacturing processes from development through production release
- Collaborate closely with Growth, Metrology, and cross-functional engineering teams on process integration activities
- Monitor process performance and manufacturing KPIs while implementing corrective actions as needed
- Lead engineering experiments and process characterization activities
- Support process documentation, SOP creation, and process standardization efforts
- Drive yield improvement, scrap reduction, and cycle time improvement initiatives
- Support equipment qualification, process validation, and manufacturing readiness activities
- Train and support fabrication technicians on process procedures and troubleshooting methodologies
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Work closely with international and multi-site engineering teams supporting process development activities
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5–7+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, optical fabrication, wafer polishing, or related process engineering environments
- Strong hands-on experience with fabrication and polishing of optical or semiconductor components
- Experience with crystal fabrication and wafer polishing processes strongly preferred
- Knowledge of X-ray crystallography and crystalline material characterization techniques highly preferred
- Experience supporting semiconductor or optical manufacturing process development initiatives
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills within manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering environments
- Ability to work onsite within a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor wafer processing experience
- Optical fabrication or optical shop experience
- CNC programming or precision machining exposure
- Experience scaling processes from R&D into manufacturing production
- Leadership or mentoring experience supporting technicians or junior engineers
- Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing expansion initiatives
- Master’s degree in Materials Science or related engineering field preferred
