A well-established and growing real estate development and construction firm in New York City, is seeking a Construction Project Accountant to join its Development Department. This individual will be responsible for full-cycle project accounting and financial administration across multiple construction and development projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AIA billing, pencil requisitions, bank draws, job cost accounting, and subcontractor payment administration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle project accounting functions, including cost accounting, accounts payable, owner billings, and subcontractor payment management.
  • Prepare, review, and process AIA invoices, pencil requisitions, and lender/bank draw packages.
  • Assist Project Managers with the preparation and submission of monthly payment applications in compliance with applicable contracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate subcontractor payment applications and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with contract terms and conditions, including insurance requirements, billing procedures, and bond compliance.
  • Review and track subcontractor insurance certificates and bonding requirements for compliance.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations, cost-to-billing analyses, and resolve reconciling items.
  • Perform month-end journal entries and detailed allocations for fringe benefits, shared costs, and indirect costs.
  • Review project cost reports and financial projections to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Provide Project Managers with project cost information, financial analysis, and cost trends to assist with monthly cost-to-complete and profit forecasting.
  • Coordinate with Development and Accounting teams to ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and operational controls.
  • Identify and communicate any discrepancies or concerns regarding project costs, forecasts, or financial transactions to management.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes related to development and construction projects.


Salary: $140,000 - $165,000
