Monday – Friday
Standard Hours: 8am – 5pm with some extended hours during peak season.
We are seeking an Auditor to perform financial statement audits, reviews, and related engagements for HOA clients in the South Orange County area. The position requires a solid understanding of accounting and auditing principles and the ability to work directly with client records, management companies, and HOA boards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for HOA clients in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
Examine financial records including general ledgers, bank reconciliations, invoices, contracts, and supporting schedules.
Test transactions and account balances and prepare supporting audit documentation.
Evaluate internal controls and identify deficiencies or areas for improvement.
Prepare workpapers, financial statements, and audit reports.
Communicate with client representatives to obtain information and address audit questions.
Assist with engagement planning and execution to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation in accordance with firm standards.
Work collaboratively with team members and report progress to supervisors.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- One to three years of public accounting or audit experience, or relevant internship experience.
- CPA license or active CPA candidate.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with HOA, real estate, or not-for-profit audits.
- Familiarity with HOA governing documents such as CC&Rs and bylaws.
- Experience with audit software.
Work Environment:
This position is performed in a professional office environment with possible client interaction. The role requires extended periods of computer work and reviewing financial documentation. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
