PAY: $38-42

Under the direction of the I & E Team Lead, maintains the control systems, instrumentation, and computers; and performs related technical work at a circulating fluidized bed power generating facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains, troubleshoots, tests, calibrates, repairs, and installs instruments, transmitters, recorders, indicators, controllers, meters, impulse lines, cable, computers, DCS system, CEMS systems and any device associated with instrumentation and/or control.
- Troubleshoots electrical and /or instrumentation systems, subsystems, and devices using generally accepted methods, instruction manuals, and experience to determine the root cause of malfunctions.
- Performs preventive and routine maintenance as directed by supervision and work orders from the preventive maintenance program.
- Performs additional functions such as isolating equipment, returning equipment to service adjustments, and performing operational tests with instruction from station Operators or other Supervisors.
- Performs tests and inspections, repairs and adjustments on relays, meters, voltage regulators, telemetering, supervisory control equipment, battery chargers and inverters, instrument transformers, electronic devices and other electrical apparatus used in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Tests and locates faults on control, power and lighting circuits; potential and current transformers, and switchboard wiring; motors and starters; and similar devices on AC and DC circuits.
- Performs routine electrical apparatus inspections in surface mine areas with MSHA jurisdictions. Completes required corrective actions and develops and files appropriate inspection reports.
- Performs soldering, brazing, and cutting using an oxy‐acetylene torch as qualified and directed.
- Competent in computer operating systems; Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and other personal computer software and hardware.
- Performs other duties as assigned by I/E Team Lead.
Physical Strength Demand:
Heavy.
Environment:
60% throughout plant, 10% in the central control room, and 30% in the instrument or mechanical shops. May be directed to work rotational, shift, weekends, holidays, and emergency call‐outs as necessary to operate and maintain the facility.
Education:
High school education or equal, and completion of a vocational program in instrumentation/electrical or an Instrument Technician Apprentice Program or related Military training as Instrument/Electronics Technician.
Experience:
Two (2) or more years experience as an Instrument Technician in a power plant or related industry or military experience. MSHA surface electrical certifications desired.
