The Occupational Therapist functions as a member on a student’s educational team to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of impaired fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual motor integration, sensory processing skills, self-care, and other activities of daily living in pre-school and school age children that limit a child’s ability to access their school and participate with their peers. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of assessment and treatment practices, evidence-based research, recommended best practices, adaptations for access to the school environment, and expected roles and responsibilities of an Occupational Therapist within a school environment.
The OT will:
1. Utilize current evidence-based practices to assess and treat impaired fine motor, gross motor, visual-motor integration, self-help, and sensory processing skills
2. Comply with special education services within federal state/county procedural guidelines.
3. Participate in the development and implementation of IEP's for those students identified as having a disability as a related service and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
4. Provide ethical and evidence-based treatment, guided by data collection, response to treatment, and on-going analysis of skills.
5. Communicate and consult with students, parents, educators, administrators, and outside agency professionals.
6. Provide supervision of COTA, if applicable
Requirements:
1. A valid degree in Occupational Therapy
2. A valid state licensure for Occupational Therapy Professions
