Job Title: Crating and Shipping Associate

Job Description

This role focuses on building and preparing shipping crates and packing systems for commercial conveyance items, ensuring safe and secure delivery. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to construct shipping containers, handle and move materials, load and unload freight, and support general shop maintenance. You will also assist with a wide range of projects as needed in a clean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble shipping containers and crating systems for commercial conveyance items using appropriate materials and tools.
  • Pack parts orders and equipment carefully to ensure safe and damage-free delivery.
  • Use tape measures, hand tools, and power tools such as miter saws and table saws to perform accurate cutting and assembly.
  • Read and interpret measurements down to 1/16 of an inch to ensure precise construction of crates and components.
  • Move, handle, and stage materials safely around the shop and shipping areas.
  • Load and unload freight, including incoming materials and outgoing shipments, using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop by sweeping, tidying work areas, and supporting general maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with various projects related to crating, shipping, and custom equipment as required by the team.
  • Follow blueprints or basic layout instructions when building crates or packaging solutions.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in a hands-on role such as mechanic, construction, carpentry, handyman, or cleaner.
  • At least 1 year of experience using hand and power tools in a work setting.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Comfortable and proficient using hand tools, including basic woodworking tools.
  • Experience using power tools such as miter saws and table saws.
  • Basic woodworking skills for building crates and packaging structures.
  • Ability to read and follow basic blueprints or layout instructions.
  • Ability to safely handle materials and freight in a manufacturing or shop environment.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with crating or packaging for industrial or commercial equipment.
  • Familiarity with using a nail or staple gun for assembly work.
  • Comfort working with a variety of hand and power tools in a production or shop environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements and quality workmanship.
  • Reliability and willingness to assist with a wide variety of projects as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean manufacturing environment focused on custom filling equipment. The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The dress code is casual, with jeans and steel-toe footwear required for safety. Plain T-shirts and hats are acceptable attire. You will work around hand and power tools, woodworking equipment such as miter and table saws, and general shop materials in an organized and safety-conscious facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
