American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience and active NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Work in a 33-bed Progressive Care Unit within a 58-licensed-bed hospital facility
- Patient population includes stroke R/O, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain R/O, A-fib, and COPD
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Region 3 — Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply
- EMR: Epic
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; telemetry monitors: Philips
- Telemetry monitoring managed at the nurses' station and remotely at a central monitoring hub
- Schedule cycles every 6 weeks
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience with trachs, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Unit is supported by CNAs, charge nurses (mostly without patient assignment), phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy (24/7), and 24/7 hospitalist coverage (mix of in-person and virtual)
- Receptionist/HUC support available primarily on day shifts for call bell triage and ADT assistance
- Orientation includes facility-level (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays
- Navy blue scrubs required

- Unit culture is described as close-knit with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient experience
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
