American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS certification and 2 years of experience, with EPIC charting experience needed
Details\n- \n
- 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting \n
- Patient ratio of 1:6 \n
- Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00 \n
- Floating may be requested based on facility needs \n
- Uses Epic EMR system \n
- Accepts local candidates at the same base rate \n

- Active RN license (VA state license in hand or proof of compact license required) \n
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred \n
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications must be through the American Heart Association (AHA) \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required \n
- Specialty experience within the last year required \n
- 1 year of previous charge experience required \n
- Epic charting experience preferred \n
- Teaching hospital experience preferred \n
- NIH and stroke education required \n
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration \n
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, and high flow nasal cannula preferred \n
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, colostomy/ileostomy management, and feeding tube care preferred \n
- Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients preferred \n
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and telemetry required \n
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols required \n
- Social Security number required at time of consideration \n

- Provide direct patient care on a busy medical-surgical telemetry unit, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response \n
- Manage patients with a variety of conditions including CVA, renal failure, and respiratory complications \n
- Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA as needed \n
- Perform wound care, surgical drain management, and GI/GU related care as required \n
- Candidates cannot work both travel and per diem contracts with this health system simultaneously \n
- Prior permanent employees must have a 6-month gap in employment before being eligible for a travel assignment \n
- RTO requests should be kept to a minimum, ideally no full calendar week off, with no more than 7 total days off during the assignment \n
- All RTO requests must be submitted and approved prior to confirmation, with no additional requests approved after an offer is made \n
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position \n
