A Day In This RoleWhen you start your morning, you’re already thinking two steps ahead. You review inbound schedules, confirm outbound loads, and check WMS/SAP dashboards to make sure inventory positions match reality. You huddle with your team to set priorities, coach for safety and accuracy, and assign dock doors and pick waves. Throughout the day, you resolve vendor and carrier questions, approve documentation, and keep shipments moving on time. You analyze exceptions in Excel, spot trends, and adjust processes to reduce errors. Before the day ends, you verify counts, update KPIs, document wins and gaps, and prep the next day’s plan.
Core Impact Areas- Lead daily shipping and receiving activities with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and policy compliance
- Supervise, mentor, and develop warehouse staff; conduct performance reviews and coach for results
- Maintain rigorous inventory integrity using WMS and SAP; reconcile discrepancies swiftly
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight, including scheduling, documentation, and dock management
- Partner with vendors, carriers, and internal departments to prevent and resolve logistics issues
- Champion safety protocols and uphold company standards on the floor
- Leverage advanced Microsoft Excel to build/maintain reports and analyze operational data
- Identify and implement process improvements that cut waste, reduce costs, and lift throughput
- 10+ years in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or distribution setting
- 5+ years leading teams in a supervisory capacity
- Hands-on experience with WMS and SAP inventory control
- Strong Excel expertise for reporting, analysis, and data management
- Proven ability to prioritize, delegate, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, confident communication and top-tier organizational skills
- Background working with vendors and 3PL partners
- Decisive problem-solver with sound judgment
- Track record of driving efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and best practices
