Med Tech / Resident Assistant

The Medication Technician will be responsible for medication management and assisting with administration of medications and will be a front-line employee offering personal care services to the residents of the Terraces. They will be responsible to the Administrator of the Terraces, a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). This will include working with the other Medication Technicians and Caregivers to ensure that resident needs pertaining to the activities of daily living are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Set up and assist with administration of medication. Must ensure there are no unattended medications anywhere in the facility.

Document medication taken and not taken in an accurate and timely manner.

Notify the Terraces Nurse of any medication ordering issues.

Maintain Medication Technician certification.

Follow facility’s policies and procedures for Medication Administration.

Report on shift when expected / stay until shift ends.

Always use safety measures for resident and self when using body mechanics.

Assist with safe transfer to and from bed, chair, sofa, commode, walker

Follow basic hygiene and infection control practices; a list of which will be reviewed and distributed to all staff.

Contribute to a positive, healthy, and safe living and work environment.

Protect the confidentiality and security of all resident information.

Document daily care notes.

Maintain calendar / organize mail.

Recognize emergencies and have knowledge of emergency procedures associated with what is presented.

Attend paid mandatory staff events / training and meetings.
