Lead Manufacturing Machine Operator

Location: Chelsea, MA
Pay: $18–$21/hour (DOE)
Shift: 2nd Shift - Overtime Potential

We are hiring a Machine Operator for our 2nd shift bottling/packaging operation client in Chelsea, MA. This role is ideal for an experienced operator who is ready to step into a lead operator role. You will safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment while ensuring quality food products are produced according to company and safety standards. Applicants must have experience operating a machine either in a manufacturing or food production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate, start, stop, and monitor bottling and packaging machinery
• Perform pre-op checks, routine inspections, and basic troubleshooting
• Adjust machine speeds and settings to meet production standards
• Perform changeovers (film, labels, codes, supplies)
• Track downtime and communicate issues to Manufacturing Technicians
• Set up and confirm correct labels, recall codes, and best-by dates
• Monitor product quality and work closely with QA
• Maintain clean and sanitary equipment and work areas (cGMP/Food Safety)
• Support production staffing needs and assist team members
• Cross-train on multiple pieces of equipment

Qualifications:

• 1+ year machine operating experience (manufacturing or food preferred)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Forklift or pallet jack experience a plus
• Bilingual preferred
• High School Diploma or GED preferred

Work Environment:

• Refrigerated production facility
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
