Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to join a litigation team in Missoula, Montana, supporting a busy practice with a strong focus on defense litigation, as well as personal injury, trucking, and auto accident matters. This Long-term Contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone who can manage a high-volume caseload, work closely with multiple attorneys, and contribute effectively in either a hybrid or remote arrangement with occasional on-site presence preferred. The role offers the chance to play a central part in case progression from early discovery through trial preparation within a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate day-to-day support for 5 to 6 attorneys across an active litigation docket and help keep matters moving according to court and client deadlines.
• Manage a caseload of approximately 50 to 75 files, maintaining organized records, tracking key dates, and ensuring case information remains current in case management systems.
• Prepare, review, and organize discovery materials, including drafting responses, compiling document productions, and monitoring follow-up items.
• Assist with civil litigation matters involving defense-related claims, with particular attention to personal injury, trucking, and automobile accident cases.
• Draft and format legal documents, correspondence, and case summaries for attorney review in preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial.
• Support trial preparation by assembling exhibits, coordinating witness materials, organizing evidence, and helping attorneys maintain readiness for court proceedings.
• Communicate with attorneys, clients, experts, vendors, and other legal professionals to gather information and support case development.
• Maintain accurate file documentation and update litigation databases and case management software to reflect ongoing activity and deadlines.
• At least 2+ years of paralegal experience in litigation, with exposure to civil or defense-focused matters.
• Working knowledge of discovery processes, litigation document handling, and trial preparation activities.
• Experience supporting multiple attorneys while balancing a high-volume caseload in a deadline-driven setting.
• Familiarity with case management software and the ability to maintain well-organized electronic and physical files.
• Background in defense litigation is preferred, though candidates with broader general litigation experience will also be considered.
• Strong written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail when preparing legal materials and tracking case progress.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote arrangement while remaining available for occasional onsite attendance in Missoula, MT.
