Job Description

Job Description
Description:

Charge Infrastructure is seeking a hands-on finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, private equity-backed, operationally intensive environment supporting multiple business units within a rapidly evolving infrastructure platform. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in private companies and be comfortable operating in gray areas where processes, priorities, and business needs continue to evolve.

This role requires a proactive, resilient professional who can balance competing priorities, support operational leadership in real time, and help bring structure, accountability, and financial discipline to a dynamic organization undergoing transformation and scalability initiatives.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Own and manage the entire month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency across all general ledger activity.
  • Lead consolidation and intercompany accounting across all Charge Infrastructure entities.
  • Prepare and review U.S. GAAP financial statements and footnotes with an emphasis on clarity, consistency, and decision-useful presentation.
  • Ensure accounting activities are compliant with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and internal control standards while balancing rigor with practicality.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for external auditors, owning audit readiness and execution.

2. Business Partnership & Operational Support

  • Serve as a highly responsive finance partner to key operating personnel, proactively providing financial information, analysis, and context to support project execution, margin management, billing, and cash flow in a dynamic, operationally intensive environment.
  • Support operating teams with project accounting, cost tracking, WIP, billing, and margin analysis, helping non-finance leaders understand drivers and tradeoffs.
  • Operate effectively in an environment with significant cross-functional interaction, evolving priorities, and frequent operational requests requiring responsiveness, prioritization, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.

3. Process Improvement, Controls & Scalability

  • Design, enhance, and enforce scalable accounting policies, procedures, and controls that support continued growth, operational complexity, acquisitions, and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to identify root causes—not just symptoms—and implement process improvements that increase visibility, accountability, responsiveness, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support the accounting implications of acquisitions and integrations, including onboarding new entities, aligning accounting policies, and improving post-close reporting efficiency.

4. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop internal and outsourced accounting staff with an emphasis on clear expectations, communication, accountability, prioritization, and professionalism in a high-expectation, mostly remote environment.
  • Establish effective communication cadence, escalation paths, and feedback loops to ensure alignment across distributed teams.
  • Take ownership of special projects (systems, integrations, acquisitions, organizational upgrades) and drive them to completion.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and senior corporate roles.
  • Experience in project-based, multi-entity, or operationally complex environments (EPC, construction, infrastructure, or services is a plus).
  • Exposure to acquisitions, integrations, private equity-backed companies, turnaround situations, or rapid-growth environments strongly preferred.

Proven Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, the close process, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to partner effectively with operational leaders and explain financial implications to non-finance teams while balancing competing priorities and operational demands.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, including with teams that do not report directly to this role.
  • Track record of managing and developing teams in remote or hybrid environments while operating effectively in fast-paced and evolving business environments.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or comparable ERP systems, including systems integrations.
  • Working knowledge of SOX concepts, internal controls, and audit management.

Additional Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing high volumes of communication, changing priorities, and operational requests.
  • Strong judgment, resilience, comfort operating in gray areas, and a bias toward ownership, continuous improvement, and solutions-oriented problem solving.

· Financial & Technical Expertise

· Business Partnership

· Leadership & Team Development
