Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff will provide structured, goal-oriented, and time-limited Family Centered Treatment® (FCT) in the natural environment to families who need assistance recovering from a variety of issues, including but not limited to mental health needs, substance abuse, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, and neglect. FCT® will be provided to children and families as an alternative to other services, including residential placement, Intensive In Home, and Multi-systemic Therapy. FCT Specialists must complete an intensive training program and work with some of the most challenging and complex client systems. FCT Specialists are required to work with the entire family system and address problematic Areas of Family Functioning as outlined in the FCT Model.
- FCT Staff will also provide the following therapeutic services:
- Crisis intake
- Assessment of needs through the comprehensive Family Centered Evaluation Process
- FCT Interventions
- Monitoring of family/parental progress
- After-care linkage and follow-up
- Development of short and long-term family goals with measurable outcomes.
- Attend and participate in Child and Family Team Meetings
- Attend weekly (more or less, depending on the Specialist’s developmental needs, case complexity, etc.) case review supervision.
- Provide thorough documentation, including treatment plans, FCT fidelity documentation, progress notes, monthly reports, and assessments.
- Testify in court as subpoenaed or requested.
- The FCT Specialist will provide Family Center Treatment to families and guide them through the four phases of treatment in a timely manner.
- The FCT Specialist will complete and maintain all program fidelity documents in a timely manner.
- Family Centered Treatment is a comprehensive treatment program that requires FCT Specialists to make at a minimum two, multi-hour face-to-face sessions per week with each family system except for titration at discharge.
- Each FCT Specialist will maintain a case load of an average of five FCT-referred families.
- A FCT Specialist works a schedule that is flexible and able to meet the needs of each family they serve. This will often require meeting in the evenings and on the weekend.
- The FCT Specialist is a member of a team that meets weekly. Participation in team meetings is mandatory and requires the FCT Specialist to serve as facilitator and recorder on a rotating basis.
- The FCT Specialist will present cases to the team using the MIGS format on a rotating basis.
- May assist with training as requested by management.
- May assist/complete other projects/duties as requested by management.
- Required Training for the Provision of FCT Services-
- The FCT Specialist will complete the Wheels of Change online training course within 8 weeks of hire
- In addition to the online-based training and required readings, the certification process requires Field Certification: the videotaped or observed demonstration of competencies in the field with real clients.
- FCT staff should be fully FCT Certified (completed the online training program and field-based competencies) within 6-9 months of hire. Any FCT staff not certified within 12 months of hire risks their employment being terminated.
- Once certified, the FCT Specialist will complete all activities necessary to maintain certification from FCTF, including recertification every two years.
Compliance
- Maintains regular contact with stakeholders involved in client caseload to ensure communication about program participation and progress to goals to support client’s success.
- Maintain 50% of work hours in direct contact with parents and caregivers participating in the program and assigned to caseload.
- Monitor client engagement in services and communication gaps and methods for re-engagement.
- Conducts assessments with outcome tools to understand needs and support identifying and achieving goals.
- Complete documentation promptly, accurately, consistently, and according to agency contractual agreements and COA standards.
This role is office, and community-based and requires frequent travel throughout the community to support program recruitment, events, and outreach. Office responsibilities may be a mix of hybrid (in-person, online). Working outside of standard office hours, including evenings and weekends, is also required.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a comparable human service field and at least two years' experience working with children and families or an advanced degree in Social Work or comparable human service field.
- Ability to engage and build rapport with clients.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge of child & adult development.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to make judgment calls and quick decisions in crisis situations.
- Strong oral and written communications.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- The successful candidate will regularly demonstrate an ability to meet training and paperwork deadlines.
- The FCT Specialist must demonstrate the ability and willingness to accept feedback - and adapt their own behavior in response to feedback.
- A FCT Specialist must be comfortable with learning to use teleconferencing hardware and software enough to participate in meetings and supervisions with other staff or FCTF personnel.
- Intermediate or advanced knowledge of computer word processing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, carry and respond to a company cell phone daily, and travel as necessary.
- Ability to work well in a team environment required.
- Ability to conceptualize, organize, create and follow through with assigned projects required.
- Must possess/obtain current CPR and First Aid certification
- Possess an understanding of the rules of confidentiality.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, safe and reliable personal automobile transportation, and valid auto insurance policy
- Criminal background checks must meet requirements of service provision standards.
