Medical / Surgical / Pediatric Unit (3West)
Shift: Rotating day and evening shifts with a commitment to every other weekend/holiday
Status: Full Time (typically 36 hours/week)
 

Responsibilities:

Collaboration and Professional Conduct

  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and cultural awareness
  • Promotes healthy work relationships, work‑life balance, and safe practices
  • Identifies and communicates safety concerns promptly

Education and Development

  • Applies adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and staff
  • Supports onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing development; may serve as preceptor
  • Seeks feedback and continuously improves practice

Clinical Practice and Patient Care

  • Applies the nursing process and Relationship Based Care principles
  • Develops patient‑centered plans of care and daily goals
  • Uses critical thinking to address clinical, psychosocial, safety, and spiritual needs
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Maintains clear, thorough documentation to support care continuity
  • Delivers compassionate, patient‑focused care

Professional Engagement and Quality Improvement

  • Participates in shared governance, unit initiatives, and practice improvement
  • Adapts to change and supports quality and workflow improvements
  • Engages in quality improvement and patient satisfaction efforts
  • Uses evidence‑based practice and research to enhance clinical outcomes

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates age‑appropriate care using growth and development principles across the lifespan
  • Assesses patient needs and delivers care per departmental policies and procedures
  • 0–2 years of RN experience required
  • Demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills

     

Physical Requirements

  • Requires mobility, visual acuity, and manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for frequent standing, walking, lifting, and patient positioning

Licensure and Certifications

  • Current RN license or Temporary Practice Permit in applicable state or compact state
  • BLS/CPR required per AHA standards within 30 days of hire
  • PALS required within 1 year of hire or transfer
