Job Title: Quality Technician
Job Description
The Quality Technician performs detailed inspections of manufactured parts using precision measurement tools and microscopes to ensure they meet strict dimensional, visual, and metallurgical requirements. This role supports production by moving parts from the manufacturing floor to the lab, conducting thorough quality checks, and documenting results using basic data entry tools.
Responsibilities
- Use gauges and measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, and hand tools to perform accurate dimensional inspections of parts.
- Conduct quality inspections through microscopes, working down to inches and millimeters, to verify fine details and detect defects.
- Apply basic math skills to calculate measurements, tolerances, and compare results to specifications.
- Move parts from the production floor into the quality lab in a safe and organized manner for inspection.
- Perform metallurgical inspections on products, following established procedures and standards.
- Carry out dimensional inspections to confirm that parts meet required specifications and tolerances.
- Perform visual inspections to identify surface defects, irregularities, and nonconformities.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to understand product requirements and inspection criteria.
- Document inspection findings accurately using Microsoft Excel and basic data entry tools.
- Support quality control and quality assurance processes by reporting nonconformances and assisting with root cause analysis as needed.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards.
- Follow established quality control procedures and maintain compliance with internal and customer requirements.
Essential Skills
- 3–6+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Proficiency in using gauges and measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, and hand tools.
- Experience performing quality inspections using microscopes to evaluate parts at detailed levels.
- Ability to perform accurate basic math calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection, quality control, and quality checks in a production setting.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings for inspection requirements.
- Strong skills in dimensional, visual, and metallurgical inspection of products.
- Comfort with Microsoft Excel and basic data entry for recording inspection results.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting and documenting findings.
- Ability to work effectively with production and quality teams to support consistent product quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Automotive industry experience is a plus.
- SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Experience working in a lab-based inspection environment is beneficial.
- Familiarity with standard quality control procedures and documentation practices.
- Strong organizational skills for handling and tracking parts from production to the lab.
