Job Description
Position Summary
Clifty Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support pipeline, civil, utility, infrastructure, energy, and heavy construction projects. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive project estimates by analyzing drawings, specifications, bid documents, subcontractor pricing, labor requirements, and project risks. This role plays a critical part in supporting successful project bidding, operational planning, and overall company profitability.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical abilities, construction knowledge, and experience managing multiple estimates in fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Review blueprints, specifications, drawings, contracts, and bid documents to determine full project scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and production activities.
• Prepare complete project estimates including direct costs, indirect costs, overhead, contingencies, escalation, and profit margins.
• Analyze project risks, constructability concerns, logistics challenges, and scheduling impacts during the estimating process.
• Participate in bid strategy discussions and pre-construction planning meetings.
• Assist in preparing bid proposals, budgets, schedules, clarifications, and scope summaries.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy, completeness, and scope alignment.
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and clients.
• Coordinate pricing requests and scope clarifications to ensure competitive and accurate bid submissions.
• Compare and analyze multiple vendor proposals to support best-value purchasing decisions.
Project Analysis & Cost Control
- Conduct site visits and field assessments to identify existing conditions and potential impacts to project costs.
• Maintain and update cost databases with current labor rates, production rates, material pricing, and equipment costs.
• Support project teams with budget tracking, change order pricing, and cost forecasting when needed.
• Review historical project data to improve estimate accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, surveyors, clients, and operations teams throughout the estimating and bidding process.
• Coordinate with field personnel to validate production assumptions, labor requirements, and equipment utilization.
• Communicate estimate assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and project risks clearly to management and operations teams.
• Participate in client meetings, pre-bid walkthroughs, and project turnover meetings as needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure estimates align with applicable OSHA, DOT, client, environmental, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Maintain awareness of industry standards, construction methods, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
• Support company policies, procedures, and operational standards throughout all estimating activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of construction estimating experience required.
• Experience supporting pipeline, civil, utility, HDD, oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, or heavy construction projects preferred.
• Strong proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, HeavyBid, HCSS, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, equipment, scheduling, and building codes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, mathematical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with conceptual estimating, hard bids, negotiated work, and change order pricing preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CPE, CCP, or similar are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Work Environment
This is an on-site position in Loveland Co. The role requires coordination with field teams and may involve supporting active job sites.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: 120-150k, based on experience
