Responsibilities
The ED Technician assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsible for assisting with orthopedic procedures as delegated by Orthopedic/Emergency Department physicians, RN Team Lead and other health team members. Also performs vital sign assessment and documentation, triage assessment and documentation under the direct supervisor of a RN, completion of 12 EKGs, application of orthopedic devices to include traction and OCL splints, patient education with regards to the application of orthopedic devices, crutch walking, etc., assistance with wound care, ENT, orthopedic procedures, eye/ear irrigations, suture/staple removal, foley leg bag application, c-spine immobilization and bladder scanning. The ED tech will provide assistance in the evolution and maintenance of supplies pertaining to the Emergency Department, and will assist with orientation, training and quality assurance activities for the Emergency Department. This individual has the ability to communicate data reflective of the patient's status, delegated tasks and/ or functions. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's age-specific needs.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year of patient care experience required.
- 1 year ED experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Works flexible hours that may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to unpredictable situation within the patient care setting.
- Previous emergency department patient care experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification through the Arizona Department of Health Services required.
