Job Description
Principal Analyst (Structural / FEA)

Seattle, WA (Hybrid Flexibility Available)

Overview

We are partnering with an advanced engineering organization in the aerospace & defense sector seeking a Principal Analyst to serve as a technical leader within their Analysis group.

This individual will play a critical role supporting multiple development programs—providing deep expertise in structural analysis, guiding engineering decisions, and leading a team of analysts responsible for evaluating complex mechanical systems.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging physics-based problems while mentoring and elevating a high-performing team.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead and guide a team of analysts supporting design and development efforts across multiple programs
  • Perform and oversee structural analysis including stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance evaluations
  • Develop and interpret finite element models (FEA) to predict system performance and inform design decisions
  • Partner closely with design and test engineering teams to validate concepts from early development through final verification
  • Contribute to test planning, analysis reporting, and engineering documentation
  • Evaluate system behavior across a range of physics domains including structural, thermal, and dynamic environments
  • Provide technical input into requirements, system performance, and overall engineering strategy
  • Mentor junior engineers and help establish best practices within the analysis function
What They’re Looking For
  • Strong background in structural analysis within aerospace, defense, or similar high-performance environments
  • Hands-on experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS and FEMAP
  • Proven ability to apply engineering fundamentals (mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics) to real-world problems
  • Experience leading technical efforts or mentoring engineers in a team environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate analysis results and engineering recommendations
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, development-focused environment
Preferred Background
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with tools such as NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, CATIA, or similar
  • Exposure to multi-physics problems (thermal, shock/vibration, kinematics, etc.)
  • Background supporting complex mechanical systems or aerospace platforms
Additional Details
  • Hybrid work flexibility available (Seattle area preferred)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a DoD clearance
