Job Opportunity Position Overview

This position involves delegating responsibilities to Physical Therapist Assistants and aides while focusing on patient care. The role includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in alignment with established physical therapy standards, physician orders, and related policies and procedures.

Shift Information

• Work Hours: 8 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Thursday; 8 AM - 12 PM, Friday
• Weekly Guarantee: 40 Hours
• Weekend Requirements: No weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluation: Assess the patient’s function using formal and informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• Treatment Development: Create a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s tolerance for the prescribed treatment plan.
• Treatment Documentation: Submit a written treatment regime to be included in the plan of treatment, authorized and coordinated with the physician. Update the plan of care as necessary to reflect changes in the patient’s status. Co-sign verbal orders received by the physical therapist assistant when required.
• Scheduling: Prepare a treatment schedule that specifies frequency and duration, and discuss this schedule with the patient, family, or caregiver while coordinating with clinical support staff.
• Education: Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers on pathology or condition, alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment. This includes information on rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.

Qualifications

• Experience in Physical Therapy
• Experience in Outpatient settings
• Active Michigan Physical Therapist License
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
