Job Description
Job Summary:
Perform all aspects of administrative support to the sales tax audit team including writing misallocation reports to California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proof and enter all petition write-ups as entered by sales tax analysts for accuracy and consistency. Request additional information as needed and designate edits for review.
- Assist with petition review – conduct database consistency checks, prepare back-up information, prepare cover letter and documentation to accompany petition submission.
- Track all write-up submissions including estimated dollars values to create weekly tracking report to be distributed to department and company executive management.
- Analyze reports with new payment data at the beginning of each new quarter to determine which cities to get letters advising of significant misallocation corrections. Prepare report and mail letters.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or customer service
- Previous experience working in the local government field beneficial, but not necessary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be proficient in Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- Ability to take direction and work cooperatively within the sales tax team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external clients
- Detail oriented, conscientious, diplomatic, flexible and dependable
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
