Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery (Delivery Room) position in Wichita, KS, requiring at least 1 year of acute care L&D experience and a KS or compact RN license.
Details
- 13-week seasonal travel assignment in the Delivery Room (Unit 708) of an acute care hospital in Wichita, KS
- 26-bed unit staffed by 112 team members across day and night shifts
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Patient ratios: 1:1 for high-risk labor and C-sections; 1:2 for antepartum, PPROM, PTL on mag, and postpartum on mag; 1:3 for postpartum mag without baby and outpatients
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, Monica Novii telemetry, and CPN (GE) fetal monitors
- EMR: Meditech / CPN
- Common procedures include C-sections, inductions, AROM, IUPC, DFM, and Doppler
- High-risk LDR experience is preferred
- Experience circulating C-sections is preferred
Requirements
- Active KS or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, AAP card required), and either EFM-C or intermediate/advanced AWHONN (or NCCEFM) fetal monitoring certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital L&D RN experience required
- No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — no local candidates accepted

- The unit follows a team nursing approach where nurses actively support one another during shifts
- Self-scheduling is in place, giving staff flexibility and input over their work schedule
- Leadership team is clinically active and supportive, capable of working the floor when needed
- Many staff members have 20–40 years of L&D experience, offering a highly experienced team environment
- A new OB Hospitalist program provides attending-level support for the residency program and nurses working triage
- All certifications must remain valid through at least the first 30 days of the assignment start date
