Tile Setter

PeopleReady Skilled Trades is seeking a Tile Setter to support a general contractor to build a mausoleum in Houston, TX.

Location: Houston TX 77077
Pay: $25-$27/hour
Duration: 6 Months
Start: Monday, June 1st
Schedule: Morning Shift

Job Duties:

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Read and interpret blueprints for laying floor tile, decorative tile, and mounting marble headstones to walls inside a mausoleum at a cemetery. 
• Complete any surface prep and waterproofing that may be needed.
• Layout materials and make marks with chalk lines and establish level starting points to ensure perfectly straight and symmetrical tile alignment.
• Cut and shape tiles by operating heavy-duty wet saws, grinders, and tile cutters to shape around structural obstacles, pipes, and fixtures.
• Mix and spread commercial-grade mortars, epoxies, or mastics to bond the tile to the prepared substrate.
• Lay, position, and beat tiles into the adhesive using mallets to ensure a secure hold and uniform lip-page (flatness).
• Work safely in various environments, including heights and confined spaces
• Maintain a clean and safe job site

Pay: 

$25-$27/hour

Depending upon the level of experience you have.

Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Must have 2 years MINIMUM experience as a Tile Setter REQUIRED.

• All experience MUST be in the last 5 years.
• Must be comfortable working in a cemetery.
• Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation.
 • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

• OSHA-10 Construction Certification is a plus but not required.
