Position Overview
The Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing multiple commercial construction projects across regions to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery. This role requires frequent travel to job sites to supervise daily operations, coordinate subcontractors, enforce quality and safety standards, and serve as the primary on-site representative for the general contractor or owner. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong commercial construction experience and the ability to adapt quickly to different project environments.

Position Overview

This role requires frequent travel to job sites to supervise daily operations, coordinate subcontractors, enforce quality and safety standards, and serve as the primary on-site representative for the general contractor or owner. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong commercial construction experience and the ability to adapt quickly to different project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as on-site leader for assigned commercial construction projects, traveling as required to oversee multiple sites.
- Manage daily construction activities to ensure work is progressing according to schedule, quality standards, and contract documents.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and site staff; enforce work sequencing and scope adherence.
- Monitor and enforce site safety programs and OSHA regulations; conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
- Maintain and update project schedules, identify critical path activities, and drive resolution of delays.
- Review and manage project cost control measures, track labor and material usage, and report budget status to project management.
- Perform regular quality inspections, ensure adherence to contract specifications, and address punchlist items promptly.
- Facilitate communication with owners, architects, engineers, and vendors to resolve design or construction issues.
- Document daily progress with reports, photos, RFI tracking, and change order documentation.
- Manage procurement coordination and material deliveries to minimize downtime and optimize workflow.
- Mentor and develop on-site teams, promote a collaborative culture, and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Support project closeout activities including final inspections, commissioning coordination, and turnover documentation.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of commercial construction experience with at least 3 years in a superintendent or lead field supervisory role.
- Proven experience as a Superintendent, Construction Superintendent, or similar leadership role on commercial projects (office, retail, education, healthcare, industrial).
- Track record managing multiple projects across locations with frequent travel and ability to adapt to varied site conditions.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction means and methods, reading construction documents, and building codes.
- OSHA 30-hour certification required; First Aid/CPR preferred.
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Prolog, PlanGrid) and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera) and strong competency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and subcontractor management skills.
- Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel 50% or more including overnight stays.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, climb ladders, and access active job sites; ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.
- Certifications such as PMP, CCM, or LEED AP are a plus.
