Looking for a change of scenery and a chance to help others. Join a traveling Physical Therapist team in Alpena, MI, supporting outpatient rehabilitation services across multiple settings. In this role you will evaluate patient function, develop and document goal-specific treatment plans, coordinate care with physicians and clinical staff, and educate patients and caregivers. The position delegates tasks to Physical Therapist Assistants and aides and involves assessing skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status to create individualized plans of care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program recognized by the APTA.
- Active Michigan Physical Therapist license required prior to start. LARA and/or Nursys documentation must show an active MI PT license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS (required).
- Relevant work history and skills checklist for Physical Therapy, current to within one year (required documentation).
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years (required documentation).
- Experience evaluating and treating adult outpatient populations. Acute care experience highly preferred.
- Pediatric experience preferred; candidate will not be scheduled with pediatric patients if not comfortable.
- Ability to delegate to and collaborate with PT Assistants and aides, and to co-sign verbal orders as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outpatient rehabilitation travel experience.
- Demonstrated experience with formal and informal testing measures and development of frequency- and duration-specific treatment schedules.
Assignment Details
- Shift hours: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (can work 8 to 10 hour days).
- 40 hour guarantee.
- Weekend requirement: One Sunday per month.
- Facility requires candidates to live outside a 50-mile radius of the permanent address; local candidates within 50 miles will not be considered.

Impacting Patient Care
You will deliver patient-focused care using assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation consistent with physical therapy standards and physician orders. Responsibilities include evaluating function, developing and updating plans of care, devising treatment schedules, authoring written treatment regimes for physician coordination, and educating patients and families regarding prognosis and therapeutic interventions.
