Physical Therapist, Pelvic Health PRN

Pelvic Health Physical Therapist, PRN (1-2 Days/Week)
Compensation: $45/hr. to $55/hr. based on experience
Position Summary
The Pelvic Health Physical Therapist provides specialized evaluation and treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction, including incontinence, pelvic pain, and pre/postpartum conditions. This role develops and implements individualized therapeutic programs aimed at preventing, identifying, and treating movement dysfunction of anatomical or physiological origin. The therapist may train assistants and support staff, orient students, and provide coverage across clinical areas as needed. Care is delivered with consideration for the developmental and physical needs of patients across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Evaluation & Treatment
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of the pelvic floor, hips, spine, and abdomen to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Analyze evaluation findings and establish appropriate short‑ and long‑term goals.
  • Administer and monitor therapeutic interventions, including modalities, therapeutic exercise, transfers, gait training, and functional mobility training.
  • Determine and instruct patients/families on appropriate assistive devices and equipment.
  • Reassess patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and coordinate care with families, PTAs, and other healthcare disciplines.
  • Communicate treatment changes to referring physicians when appropriate.
  • Recommend additional services, programs, or equipment to support patient outcomes.
Documentation & Coordination
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, re‑evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, daily treatment records, staffing reports, and billing records.
  • Plan and document individualized home exercise programs and provide patient/family instruction.
  • Participate in discharge planning with physicians, nursing, and social services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Schedule and coordinate treatment with physical therapy staff and other disciplines.
Professional Development & Collaboration
  • Maintain current knowledge of pelvic health and physical therapy best practices through reading, continuing education, and professional development.
  • Attend required department and Medical Complex meetings and educational programs.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, patients, students, and external agencies.
  • Support HMC's continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, satisfaction, and resource utilization.
Departmental Support
  • Assist the Director in recommending, implementing, and communicating departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to increase service effectiveness and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in the state of Illinois.
  • Specialized training or significant experience in pelvic floor physical therapy.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and evaluation skills specific to pelvic health.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to patient‑centered care and professional growth.
