Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift
Location: Franklin Park, IL
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time | Onsite
Pay: $32.00 - $36.00/hour + Overtime Available

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a fast-paced food manufacturing operation in Franklin Park, IL. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and safety.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience with industrial equipment maintenance, and the ability to work effectively in a refrigerated production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial processing and packaging equipment
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and vacuum systems
- Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting and interpret electrical schematics
- Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of production equipment
- Perform welding and fabrication on stainless steel and carbon steel components
- Maintain facility systems, buildings, and grounds as required
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment to complete repairs and modifications
- Accurately document maintenance activities and completed work orders
- Follow all GMP, OSHA, EPA, food safety, and company safety standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Experience working with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience and ability to read electrical schematics
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience performing preventive maintenance programs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Food, beverage, meat processing, or other regulated manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with USDA, FSIS, or food safety regulations
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on equipment for extended periods
- Comfortable working in cold, refrigerated, and occasionally noisy manufacturing environments
