Description
Responsible for providing maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all plant equipment, buildings, and tools. The technician is responsible for providing preventative maintenance, including a safe and sanitary environment, to the plant and surrounding grounds. They perform routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections to minimize downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Learn set-up, operation, adjustments and operating parameters of production equipment.
- Safety must be priority. Remedy any unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
- Reconfigure electrical and water drops to improve esthetics, efficiency and safety.
- Assess maintenance and repair problems with follow-up.
- Perform plumbing and electrical work and repair equipment when breakdowns occur to maintain production.
- Develop open communication with machine operators, department supervisors and managers.
- Facilitate implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for production equipment.
- Build spare parts stock for normal wear items.
- Paint any necessary areas and repair aesthetic defects i.e. seals, hinges, hangers, etc. when production schedule allows.
- Develop a daily walk-through routine to spot and document possible problems.
- Be on call, as needed.
- Be a role model in projecting and applying company policies and department SOPs and promote teamwork at all times.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- Required: High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum three years related experience in an electrical, single phase, 3 phase & programming, refrigeration, welding, fabrication, forklift, or building maintenance.
- Preferred: Experience in Best Practices in Process Improvement.
- Industrial Refrigeration Certified.
- Experience working in a food processing environment.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License
- Fork-lift Certification
- Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Strong mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude
- Strong Computer skills in MS Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
