We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a leading manufacturing organization in Thornton, IL. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical troubleshooting skills, PLC experience, and a multi-craft maintenance background.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and support PLC-controlled equipment, including troubleshooting, programming modifications, and system optimization.
  • Maintain and repair electrical distribution systems, motors, motor controls, VFDs, transformers, wiring, lighting, and power circuits.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade electrical and mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Perform equipment tear-downs, rebuilds, and component replacements to restore operational performance.
  • Support production changeovers and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of facility systems, utilities, refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, and sanitation equipment.
  • Prepare equipment and work areas for outside contractors and specialized service providers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all safety, GMP, food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with plant housekeeping standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient plant operations.
  • Participate in weekend work, overtime, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Electrical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with:
    • PLC systems, including troubleshooting and basic programming
    • HMIs and industrial control systems
    • Electric motors, VFDs, and motor controls
    • High- and low-voltage electrical systems
    • Industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
    • High- and low-pressure boiler systems
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
