Job Summary
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of stationery and mining equipment at sand and gravel plant. Performs mechanical and welding maintenance and repairs on stationary and mobile equipment such as conveyor systems, screens, and crushers, using hoists, fork lifts, hand tools, power tools and all equipment. Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Lubricates machines and equipment. Performs basic electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs.
Essential Functions
The following is a list of typical duties but is not an all-inclusive list.
- Trouble-shoots malfunctions and mechanical failures of stationary plant and mining equipment.
- Performs mechanical repairs on belt conveyor systems, screens, crushers, and other related equipment to include setting/aligning of gears, replacement of bearings, motor installation, replacement of various mechanical components, etc.
- Performs fabrication and repairs as needed.
- Performs basic repairs on pneumatic, electric, fuel and hydraulic on stationary and mobile equipment.
- Reads technical drawings to determine work procedures.
- Operates forklift and man lift to facilitate repairs to stationary and mobile equipment
- Lubricate machines and equipment.
- Completes inspection forms and performs preventive maintenance checks on equipment.
- Performs call outs after hours and on weekends.
- Maintains and cleans work areas.
- Performs all duties safely, taking all reasonable precautions to prevent personal injuries and property damage.
- Complies with all Company Safety guidelines.
- Works cooperatively in a team with co-workers to continuously improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
- Participates in job and safety training as scheduled by the company.
- Displays an attitude of helpfulness and co-operation to all contacts inside and outside the Company.
- Maintains an orderly workspace and is responsible for workshop and tool cleanliness.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an industrial and equipment mechanic/welder; Must have full working knowledge of plant systems and mechanic trades including proper tool usage, lubrication, drive components, v-belt drives, chain drives, speed reducers, bearings, pumps, piping systems.
- Strong troubleshooting techniques and skills.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an industrial and equipment mechanic/welder; Must have full working knowledge of plant systems and mechanic trades including proper tool usage, lubrication, drive components, v-belt drives, chain drives, speed reducers, bearings, pumps, piping systems.
- Strong troubleshooting techniques and skills.
- Fabrication skills should include arc welding, torch, and other shop equipment used for fabricating and repair.
- Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform plant equipment lubrication, and inspections to identify specific maintenance needs.
- Ability to select and properly use personal protective equipment according to the specific hazard or hazards in accordance with Company requirements.
- Full knowledge of safe work procedures particularly energy isolation, lockout/tag out.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to utilize maintenance management system/work order system.
- Exerts physical effort in lifting, carrying, bending and stooping on a continuous basis; to climb, maintain balance and work at heights; to see and hear clearly; and to work outdoors.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability and demonstrated willingness to respond to and handle call outs, and to work all assigned overtime; must have reliable means of contact.
- Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Pass drug screen
Self-starter with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions Work is primarily outside; often works at heights; is usually exposed to noise, heat/cold, dust and all weather conditions.
