Shop Hand

(Broussard, LA): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Shop Hand to support daily operations in an industrial shop environment. This position assists mechanics, welders, fitters, and technicians with material handling, equipment preparation, shop maintenance, and general labor activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn mechanical and fabrication processes in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Essential Duties:
• Assist mechanics, welders, fitters, and shop technicians with daily tasks and project support.
• Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment throughout the facility.
• Clean, prepare, and maintain equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Perform general labor duties including grinding, sanding, painting, pressure washing, and material preparation.
• Support fabrication, maintenance, and mechanical repair activities as directed.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards.
• Assist with inventory management, shipping, receiving, and material tracking.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production and operational goals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements/Skills:
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Forklift experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong attention to safety and quality standards.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Exposure to industrial noise, dust, heavy equipment, and moving machinery.
• Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining safety awareness.
