Job Description
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Shift Lead to oversee evening and weekend operations at a fast-growing liquor store. This position is responsible for ensuring the store runs smoothly, employees stay productive, customers receive excellent service, and all daily tasks are completed without constant supervision.
This is a leadership position. We need someone who takes ownership, solves problems, and treats the store as if it were their own during their shift.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise cashiers and stock associates during assigned shifts.
- Ensure employees remain productive and follow company policies.
- Delegate tasks and hold team members accountable.
- Address customer service issues and employee concerns.
- Communicate important updates to ownership and management.
Store Operations
- Open and/or close the store properly.
- Ensure registers are balanced and cash procedures are followed.
- Monitor sales floor appearance and cleanliness.
- Ensure shelves remain stocked and faced throughout the shift.
- Verify pricing, signage, and promotional displays are accurate.
- Handle customer questions, complaints, and special requests.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Monitor low inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
- Ensure deliveries are checked in correctly.
- Organize backstock and maintain a clean stockroom.
- Assist with merchandising displays and seasonal promotions.
- Help prevent inventory shrink and theft.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service.
- Assist customers with beer, wine, spirits, and product recommendations.
- Ensure every customer is greeted and acknowledged.
- Support VIP program signups and promotional events.
Store Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment.
- Ensure restrooms, sales floor, and front counter remain presentable.
- Enforce company policies and procedures.
- Handle unexpected issues and make sound decisions independently.
Qualifications
- Previous retail, liquor store, grocery, or management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
- Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
