Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) night shift position at a Level II NICU and Level II Trauma facility in Dickson, TN, requiring BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification.
Details
- Work setting is a Women's Services unit (LDRP) within an acute care hospital
- Unit includes 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
- Patient population includes active labors, inductions, C-sections, couplet care, newborns, and intermediate NICU care
- Patient ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections; couplet care 1:3; newborns 1:1 until stable; NICU intermediate care 1:3 (minimum 2 NICU nurses required in unit at all times)
- Procedures performed include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
- Equipment used includes CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
- Documentation systems: Meditech and CPN
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 shifts per week
- Rotating weekends and holidays required
- Floating within the facility may be required; some staff are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics card required), and intermediate or advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring or NCCEFM
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required, including ability to labor and recover the mother and receive and transition the newborn
- Experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil) and fetal monitoring required
- Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- One professional reference required (two required if candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include laboring and recovering mothers, receiving and transitioning newborns, daily patient rounding, and safety rounding
- No unit secretaries or techs are available on the unit
- Pink and/or brown scrubs are required per the infant security policy
- The unit is staffed by a highly experienced team, with several RNs having 30+ years of experience, serving as strong resources and preceptors for travelers
- This LDRP unit offers well-rounded experience across labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
- The facility holds Joint Commission accreditation and is designated as a Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
