Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lift Station Superintendent / Utility Superintendent to join our growing utility construction team. This position will be responsible for overseeing and performing the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and repair of lift stations and related underground utility infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and underground utility construction and be capable of independently reading plans, coordinating subcontractors, managing field operations, and overseeing projects from start to finish. This individual will work closely with the Project Manager to develop project schedules, coordinate inspections, manage on-site activities, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise lift station and underground utility construction activities from mobilization through completion.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to schedule and coordinate project activities, inspections, deliveries, subcontractors, and manpower requirements.
  • Manage daily on-site operations to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to the project schedule.
  • Read, interpret, and build from construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and project details.
  • Layout utility improvements, structures, piping, and related infrastructure from project drawings.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between plans, field conditions, and existing utilities.
  • Coordinate and direct subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
  • Schedule manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities to maintain project progress.
  • Install and troubleshoot pumps, guide rail systems, valves, piping, and controls.
  • Assist with startup, commissioning, and testing of lift station systems.
  • Coordinate with inspectors, utility providers, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project momentum and avoid delays.
  • Maintain daily reports and project documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Train and mentor field personnel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in civil construction, including experience with underground utility projects such as water, sewer, storm drainage, force mains, or lift stations.
  • Prior experience with underground utility construction.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting civil, utility, structural, and lift station construction drawings.
  • Ability to understand specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Experience verifying elevations, grades, and utility alignments from plans.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility installation methods, trenching, excavation safety, dewatering, and utility conflicts.
  • Ability to independently manage and coordinate subcontractors while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot field issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn, grow professionally, and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Positive attitude and desire to be part of a growing team.
  • Valid driver's license.
