Job Title: CDL Class A Truck Driver
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our fleet. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transport of goods and materials across routes. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, exceptional driving skills, a clean driving record, and a thorough understanding of DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Operation: Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer combination) with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 26,000 lbs.
Inspections: Perform required daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (brakes, tires, lights, fluid levels) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with all FMCSA and DOT regulations, including Electronic Logging Device (ELD) hours-of-service (HOS) tracking.
Cargo Management: Ensure cargo is properly secured, balanced, and within legal weight limits before departure. [Optional: Assist with loading/unloading cargo using a pallet jack/forklift.]
Route Planning: Follow dispatch instructions, navigate efficient routes, adjust for weather or traffic delays, and ensure on-time deliveries.
Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery paperwork, including bills of lading, freight manifests, and fuel receipts.
Communication: Maintain professional and clear communication with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers.
Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure: A valid, unexpired Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
Experience: Minimum of [e.g., 1 to 2 years] of verifiable CDL Class A driving experience.
Medical Cleanliness: Must possess a current DOT Medical Card and pass a mandatory pre-employment DOT drug screening and background check.
Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no recent major violations (such as DUI/DWI or reckless driving within the past [e.g., 3 to 5] years).
Endorsements: [Optional: Air Brake endorsement required. Hazmat (H), Tanker (N), or Doubles/Triples (T) endorsements a plus/required.]
Age: Must be at least 21 years old (required for interstate commerce).
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Ability to sit and drive for extended periods within legal hours-of-service limits.
Ability to work in various weather and road conditions (rain, snow, night driving).
Ability to lift up to [50 lbs.] and handle physical tasks like pulling 5th-wheel pins, opening stubborn trailer doors, and cranking landing gear.
Some over night stays as well
