Position Overview
The Production Inventory Supervisor oversees inventory control and material flow within a food manufacturing environment, with a focus on grain processing. This role ensures accurate inventory records, timely parts and materials ordering, compliance with safety and quality standards, and efficient coordination between production, maintenance, and procurement teams. The supervisor drives continuous improvement in inventory processes and SAP-driven inventory transactions to support on-time production while minimizing waste and stock discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily inventory activities for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods in a rice and grain processing facility.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using SAP, including cycle counts, adjustments, and reconciliation of physical and system quantities.
  • Coordinate receipt, inspection, storage, and issuing of materials to production lines, ensuring FIFO and first-expiry/first-out practices where applicable.
  • Process and track purchase orders and processing POs for production materials and parts; work closely with purchasing to expedite critical items.
  • Supervise and coach inventory and warehouse staff, conduct training on inventory procedures, SAP transactions, and safe handling of materials.
  • Schedule and lead regular cycle counts, monthly reconciliations, and full physical inventories to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain parts ordering programs for maintenance and production spare parts to prevent downtime.
  • Collaborate with production planners and operations to forecast material needs and set appropriate safety stock levels to support production plans.
  • Implement and enforce safety and food safety practices in storage and material handling to meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Analyze inventory trends and KPIs (e.g., inventory turns, variance, fill rate) and recommend process improvements to reduce shrinkage and improve service levels.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of inventory, warehouse, or production materials experience in food manufacturing, preferably in rice, grain, or cereal processing.
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP for inventory management, MRP, and transaction processing.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control techniques including cycle counting, FIFO, and stock reconciliation.
  • Experience processing purchase orders and coordinating parts ordering for maintenance and production.
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FSMA, HACCP) and facility safety practices.
  • Experience supervising and developing frontline staff with strong communication and coaching skills.
  • Proven analytical skills with experience using data to drive inventory decisions and process improvements.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to lift and move inventory as required and to work on the production floor as needed.
