Sr. Business Litigation Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking a Sr. Business Litigation Attorney to lead complex business litigation matters on behalf of corporate and entertainment clients. The successful candidate will manage high-stakes disputes involving breach of contract, trademark and copyright infringement, breach of fiduciary duty and confidence, and data security incidents. This role requires hands-on courtroom experience, strong strategic judgment, client counseling skills, and the ability to oversee teams and outside counsel to achieve favorable outcomes and minimize legal and business risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute litigation strategy for commercial disputes, intellectual property infringement claims (copyright, trademark) and related matters.
  • Manage all phases of litigation including case intake, investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, hearings and appeals.
  • Lead responses to data security breaches and coordinate investigations, preservation, and privileged communications with clients and forensic vendors.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and other court and client-facing documents with precision and persuasive legal writing.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze complex factual and legal issues, and present clear recommendations and risk assessments to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Handle pre-litigation counseling, demand letters, settlement negotiations, mediations and alternative dispute resolution efforts to resolve matters efficiently where appropriate.
  • Supervise, mentor and train junior attorneys, paralegals and support staff; manage outside counsel and litigation budgets to control costs and maintain quality.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, communicate case status and strategy clearly, and anticipate business implications of legal actions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, compliance, information security, IP licensing) to align legal strategy with business objectives and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of case law, industry trends and statutory changes affecting commercial litigation and intellectual property enforcement.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Barred in CA
  • 6+ years of litigation experience with a focus on business and commercial disputes
  • Proven track record of managing complex cases through discovery, dispositive motion practice and trial; appellate experience a plus.
  • Substantive experience with breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of confidence and commercial disputes.
  • Experience responding to and litigating issues arising from data security breaches and privacy-related claims.
  • Strong legal research, drafting and oral advocacy skills; demonstrated success in motion practice and courtroom presentations.
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers and managing outside counsel and case budgets.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with eDiscovery tools, litigation technology and evidence preservation protocols.
  • Excellent judgment, ethical standards, client-service orientation and the ability to translate legal risks into practical business advice.
