Job Description
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, supporting learners in the Haverhill/Andover area for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. In this contract-based role, you’ll deliver specialized instruction and services to students who are blind or have low vision, ensuring they access their curriculum and develop essential skills for independence. Choose from full-time or part-time schedules—both delivered exclusively onsite—while working closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Education license for Visually Impaired Teacher
- Successful completion of all required MTELs
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments preferred
- Familiarity with accessible educational materials, adaptive technology, and Braille instruction
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education teams, families, and related specialists
- Commitment to inclusivity, individualized education, and positive student outcomes
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional and consultative services to students with visual impairments within school settings
- Assess student needs and develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt and create accessible curriculum materials, incorporating Braille and assistive technology
- Offer guidance and training to school staff and families on supporting students’ unique learning needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with school teams to foster an inclusive, supportive environment
