Job Description
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting middle school students in a dedicated therapeutic program. This full-time contract position is ideal for an experienced Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist eager to make a positive difference for grades 6–8. With a manageable caseload of just 14 students—including both general education and special education—you’ll play a vital role in providing social-emotional and mental health support during a key transition period for one of the program’s educators on maternity leave. The assignment is set to begin as soon as possible and may continue through the end of the school year.
Ideal candidates will bring a student-centered approach and experience working within therapeutic or specialized educational settings. Collaboration, compassion, and adaptability are essential.
Qualifications:
- Hold valid Massachusetts DESE certification as a School Counselor, Adjustment Counselor, or School Psychologist
- Background providing direct counseling or support services to middle school students
- Experience with both general education and special education populations
- Knowledge of therapeutic strategies, crisis response, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counseling to students in the therapeutic program
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to implement social-emotional learning interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized planning for students
- Respond to student crises and provide ongoing support as needs arise
- Maintain thorough, confidential records and progress reports
