Job Description
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make an impact in the lives of students as a dedicated educator specializing in teaching visually impaired learners. This onsite position, based near Lawrence, MA, offers you the opportunity to serve as a committed resource for students requiring specialized instruction from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027. Both full-time and part-time candidates with a passion for empowering visually impaired students are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current VI Teacher License and active MA Department of Education (DOE) certification
- Successful completion of MTELs required
- Experience working as a teacher for the visually impaired in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with staff, students, and families
- A commitment to fostering independence and self-advocacy in students
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instruction plans tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Adapt curriculum materials into accessible formats and employ specialized assistive technology
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Conduct regular assessments and maintain progress documentation
- Advocate for the needs of visually impaired students and help them build essential skills for academic and personal success
