Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This exciting contract opportunity spans the full 2026-27 academic year and offers the chance to work onsite in a collaborative, student-centered educational environment near Peabody. Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License and current MA Department of Education (DOE) certification
  • Successful completion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in school settings strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, accessible instructional materials, and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to develop tailored lesson plans

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative vision services to students in accordance with each Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional resources to meet the specific needs of students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and family members
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and provide input for educational planning
  • Track student milestones, maintain thorough service documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
